Appealing to a Platonic division between base and heavenly or spiritual matter, Augustine of Hippo would distinguish between the waters below the firmament and the waters above the firmament. For Origen, the resolution was in by supposing two heavens and two Earths: a pair created on the first day residing in the invisible and supreme region of creation, and a visible pair (corresponding to the firmament from the second day and the "dry land" from the third) that acted as its corporeal, physical counterpart and as the plain in which humans existed. One problem for Christian interpreters was in understanding the distinction between the heaven created on the first day and the firmament created in the second day. This picture was geocentric and represented the cosmos as a whole as spherical. However, the work of Anaximander, Anaximenes, and Thales, followed by classical Greek theoreticians like Aristotle and Ptolemy ushered in the notions of a spherical Earth and an Earth floating in the center of the cosmos as opposed to resting on a body of water. Prior to the systematic study of the cosmos by the Ionian School in the city of Miletus in the 6th century BC, the early Greek conception of cosmology was closely related to that of near eastern cosmology and envisioned a flat Earth with a solid firmament above the Earth supported by pillars. A Babylonian clay tablet from the 6th century BC illustrates a world map. The gap between heaven and Earth was bridged by ziggurats and these supported stairways that allowed gods to descend into the Earth from the heavenly realm. Beyond the firmament is the upper waters, above which further still is the divine abode. The two primary structural representations of the firmament was that it was flat and hovering over the Earth, or that it was a dome and entirely enclosed the Earth's surface. Between these two main sources, there is a fundamental agreement in the cosmological models pronounced: this included a flat and likely disk-shaped world with a solid firmament. Near eastern cosmology is primarily known from cuneiform literature (such as the Enūma Eliš) and the Bible : in particular, the Genesis creation narrative as well as some passing references in the Psalms and the Book of Isaiah. Main article: Ancient near eastern cosmology The Vulgate translates rāqīaʿ with firmamentum, and that remains the best rendering. The meaning of the verb rqʿ concerns the hammering of the vault of heaven into firmness (Isa. Rāqīaʿ means that which is firmly hammered, stamped (a word of the same root in Phoenecian means "tin dish"!). "the vault of heaven, or 'firmament,' regarded by Hebrews as solid and supporting 'waters' above it." A related noun, riqquaʿ ( רִקּוּעַ), found in Numbers 16.38 (Hebrew numbering 17.3), refers to the process of hammering metal into sheets. "(flat) expanse (as if of ice), as base, support", and 2. The Hebrew lexicographers Brown, Driver and Briggs gloss the noun with "extended surface, (solid) expanse (as if beaten out)" and distinguish two main uses: 1. Rāqīaʿ derives from the root rqʿ ( רָקַע), meaning "to beat or spread out thinly". These words all translate the Biblical Hebrew word rāqīaʿ ( רָקִ֫יעַ), used for example in Genesis 1.6, where it is contrasted with shamayim ( שָׁמַיִם), translated as " heaven(s)" in Genesis 1.1. This in turn is a calque of the Greek στερέωμᾰ ( steréōma), also meaning a solid or firm structure (Greek στερεός = rigid), which appears in the Septuagint, the Greek translation made by Jewish scholars around 200 BC. The same word is found in French and German Bible translations, all from Latin firmamentum (a firm object), used in the Vulgate (4th century). It later appeared in the King James Bible. In English, the word "firmament" is recorded as early as 1250, in the Middle English Story of Genesis and Exodus. Today it is known as a synonym for sky or heaven. The concept was adopted into the subsequent Classical/Medieval model of heavenly spheres, but was dropped with advances in astronomy in the 16th and 17th centuries. In biblical cosmology, the firmament ( Hebrew: רָקִ֫יעַ rāqīa) is the vast solid dome created by God during the Genesis creation narrative to divide the primal sea into upper and lower portions so that the dry land could appear. In ancient near eastern cosmology, the firmament signified a cosmic barrier that separated the heavenly waters above from the Earth below. The firmament ( raqia), Sheol, and Tehom are depicted. Wondershare Filmora (formerly Wondershare Video Editor) is the perfect option if you want to start out with basic video editing functionality while also having the opportunity to get more advanced as you go. (And because there is a bit of a learning curve, there’s a good chance you’ll need to.) Support for the VSDC Free Video Editor costs $1 for one month, $5 for half a year, and $10 for a full year. If you want technical support, you need to pay. You can use the program’s full feature set without having to deal with pesky watermarks.īut unfortunately, there is one catch. And unlike WeVideo, the VSDC Free Video Editor is truly free. In addition to supporting nearly every major video format, the program offers advanced video effects, including object transformation and color correction, as well as advanced audio effects like volume correction and sound normalization. In experienced hands, the VSDC Free Video Editor can produce some seriously professional-looking video. The free version also puts a WeVideo watermark on your videos, which isn’t ideal.įor a complete breakdown of the differences between WeVideo’s free and paid options, check out their pricing page. But if you’re planning to edit multiple videos you’ll definitely need more space. If you’re making a one-off video, this is fine. One major downside is that you’re only given 5GB of cloud storage. However, the free version of WeVideo isn’t without its limitations. And one of the programs leading the charge is WeVideo.Ĭompared to the first two programs on this list, WeVideo definitely offers some more advanced features and functionality, including audio editing capabilities and a library of commercially licensed music. 3) WeVideo (Cloud-based)Ĭloud-based video editing software (i.e., software that you access via a browser instead of downloading directly to your hard drive) is growing more and more popular. What’s more, Avidemux comes with several filters that allow you to perform a host of different functions, from flipping and rotating clips, to adding subtitles, to adjusting colors and brightness levels.Īnd while the learning curve for Avidemux is slightly steeper compared to Machete Video Editor Lite, the upside is that there’s an extensive Avidemux wiki that covers everything you need to know. But Avidemux also has a few more tricks up its sleeve.įor starters, the program supports multiple video formats, including AVI, DVD, MPEG, QuickTime, and MP4. Like Machete Video Editor Lite, Avidemux allows you to do basic video editing (no audio editing) without having to worry about loss of video quality. Still, if you have zero video editing experience and only need to make simple edits, it’s a great option. The main downsides to the program? It only supports the AVI and WMV video formats, and it doesn’t allow for audio editing. And because Video Editor Lite doesn’t re-encode your video files when you slice them, you don’t have to worry about losing video quality. The program’s intuitive interface means you won’t have to waste time shuffling through technical support documents. As the Machete website puts it, Video Editor Lite was “designed for quick and simple ‘slicing’ of your video files.” 7 of the Best Pieces of Free Video Editing Software 1) Machete Video Editor Lite (Windows)Īt the simple end of the spectrum is Machete Video Editor Lite, which allows you to cut, copy, and paste different sections of video. The good news: There are several free video editing solutions you can download that run the gamut from super simple to Hollywood-level powerful. However, depending on your particular skill set and/or what it is you’re trying to accomplish with your videos, you may find that the above options are either too complicated or not packed with enough features. For Windows, that’s Windows Movie Maker, and for Macs, it’s iMovie. If you have a PC that’s running Microsoft Windows, or an iMac/Macbook, there’s a good chance you already have video editing software installed on your computer. And in order to do that, you’re going to need some video editing software. Of course, even if you are completely sold on the idea of incorporating video into your business’s marketing program, there’s still the issue of actually creating the videos. Still not convinced? Here’s a SlideShare presentation with more stats that illustrate the importance of video. Not sure if video marketing is worth your time? The release of preliminary flood hazard maps, or Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), is an important step in the mapping lifecycle for a community. These effects are like a rev light for optimum shifting point instead of simply listening to the engine or looking at a rev needle. But they are very "fake"Ĭlick to expand.Well "fake" is such a negative word. The noise changes then.ĭon't get me wrong, I use all these effects. I have it at 5% to feel when the tarmac changes.Īt Spa for example you have some darker and some brighter tarmac. But it's not coming from anything 3d modelled! So you get a different "noise" depending on the surface. In the surface ini you have different types of tarmac, run off, grass, gravel etc.įor each of them there's a different rumble frequency. The road slider is the only actually physically calculated effect. I keep slide and abs effects at the same level so I get the same rumble in the wheel no matter if I drive a car with or without abs. Although you would normally feel it in the brake pedal of course. When the physics engine from the game registers a wheel to be sliding or spinning, the game will send some sinus rumble to the wheel.ĪBS however is kinda realistic. Slide is debatable but it's just a rumble effect without any physical calculation. So I have the Kerbs slider at 2% to get some subtle feedback when hitting the flat Kerbs. But it's weird for us when there are flat Kerbs and we don't get feedback when running over them. So in theory you don't need the Kerbs slider at all. The 3D Modelled Kerbs will give you the correctly calculated ffb from the kerb steps. Kerbs is a rumble effect when the a wheel hits a "kerb-surface according to the surface.ini Kerbs and slip are as fake as much as fake goes. I'd recommend at least 80% in the driver and 80% in the gain. If the ffb is too weak to spin the wheel quickly enough, put the ffb higher! The ffb isn't strong enough to spin the wheel fast enough into opposite lock during oversteer and you have to help the ffb and turn the wheel faster than it can on its own. The last part is a bit problem with the dfgt. But you shouldn't really feel it since mostly you either turn slowly against the Tyre grip (corner entry turn in) or you have to correct some oversteer, then the ffb will push the wheel to the correct position and you don't really have to work against anything apart from "holding against the ffb" but not "accelerate the wheel faster than it wants to move on its own". T300 belt drive has quite some resistance. In the link above, the min damper is set to 0.1.Īpart from that there's not much to do. 3 km/h afaik.īut you should check the "min damper level" as this is causing the damper to be always active. For CM try Johnr777 settingsĭamper doesn't do anything when you're faster than the speed in the ini setting. Than adjust ffb per car with +/- For example with this settings GT3 cars best about 82-88%ītw: These are non CM settings, bacause i don`t use CM. I am not a pro or something but if you can´t find your optimal settings here are my settings i am happy with (without editing config files and that stuff): But with time i changed to 100 because i belive without it you just miss some important effects (i learned that while driving and here And i think with that "heavyness" its just more realistic. The wheel was not that heavy and felt good to me. In AC i feel the slower you are than more damping you feel and the wheel becomes heavier (like in real car). Well some people believe damper should be and others it works not only when car is not moving. |
